Enterprise Finance Guarantee from Natwest

Finding the right solution for your business
Sometimes, especially in challenging economic times, it can be difficult to access the working capital required to help your business.

Natwest are keen wherever possible to support small businesses, but of course to lend responsibly, they need to be sure that your business has the assets behind it to secure a borrowing facility.

But what if you don’t have the assets needed to secure this, yet we agree that the ongoing viability of your business is not in doubt? There is a solution that could be right for your business.

The Enterprise Finance Guarantee
To help ensure that businesses can obtain the finance they need to expand or to meet day-to-day working capital requirements, we are participants of the Enterprise Finance Guarantee (EFG) scheme, an initiative operated by the Government. It is available to firms with robust business proposals that can’t get conventional finance due to lack of security, and can be accessed by way of a loan, overdraft or invoice finance, to help meet your individual requirements. By you paying a premium to the Government’s Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS), they will issue a guarantee to the bank, so that we have the security we need to offer you the facility.

BIS only guarantees 75% of the facility. There are certain conditions that you will need to meet to benefit from EFG funding. These include:

Turnover
The scheme is available to firms with a turnover of less than £25 million in the last 12 months.

Types of business
The EFG is open to sole traders, partnerships, franchises, co-operatives and limited companies. You should either be trading already or prepared to start trading in the near future. You should, of course, be a business operating in the UK in order to be eligible for the scheme. The EFG is particularly suited to assisting franchise businesses, as we recognise that such enterprises often have insufficient security for conventional finance, but with the support of the franchisor, have robust business proposals. EFG finance can be used to assist in the set up of brand new franchises, transfers of existing businesses, or to assist in general trading expenditure for ongoing businesses. Natwest’s dedicated franchise team will be happy to discuss how they can assist you. Please contact them on 0800 092 9117
